As the list of options available to your vehicle grows so does the list of different windshields produced. Using the following examples we hope to make sure we are getting the right windshield for your car the first time.
A rain sensor can usually be identified as a round “eye” mounted near the rear view mirror as seen from the outside.
The cameras used for lane departure systems or auto dimming headlights can be identified by the “V” shaped opening near the rear view mirror as viewed from the outside of the vehicle. This picture also shows a rain sensor mounted near the camera.
The heated wiper park area can usually be identified as a series of tan or maroon lines at the base of the windshield where the windshield wipers come to rest.
The frit is the black painted area that borders the entire windshield. On some models there are options for special logos printed in the frit area.
Examples are shown with the Ford Super Duty logo, and the Grille and Willys logo found on some new Jeep Wranglers.
Some windshields have the option of having a blue tinted shade across the top four inches of the windshield. Here are examples of with and without.
